36 The Golden Bowl

Sung without instrumental accompaniment

THE GOLDEN BOWL
(Sung to the music of “Ask Not To Be Excused“ Christ in Song, No. 513)

A voice is sounding clear
A voice so pure and sweet
The Shepherd’s Rod is here.
Come give a welcome greet
The message of the Bowl
Of truth pure and divine.
‘Twill purify your soul
Sweet grapes from Eschol’s vine.

Chorus: Come, O come, come hear the Shepherd’s call,
Come, O come, come hear ye one and all.
Drink from the Golden Bowl,
‘Twill purify your soul.
If you will thus comply,
O come, do not deny.

Ezekiel nine will come
And take the tares away
The wheat put in the barn
O hasten gladsome day.
Then water pure and fresh
Will wash your sins away.
You’ll have a heart of flesh
Your idols cast away.

Chorus: Come, O come, come hear the Shepherd’s call,
Come, O come, come hear ye one and all.
Drink from the Golden Bowl,
‘Twill purify your soul.
If you will thus comply,
O come, do not deny.

The wheat then in the barn
Are with the Lamb on Zion.
You’re free from every harm
Standing with Judah’s Lion.
But in the fields of sin
Are thousands, thousands yet
Must soon be gathered in.
The Judgment then is set.

Chorus: Come, O come, come hear the Shepherd’s call,
Come, O come, come hear ye one and all.
Drink from the Golden Bowl,
‘Twill purify your soul.
If you will thus comply,
O come, do not deny.

God’s glory we’ll declare
Among the Gentiles then
To the isles far and near
And bring your brethren in.
Clear as the moon and fair
Gear as the brightest day
No unclean enter there
All sinners cast away.

Chorus: Come, O come, come hear the Shepherd’s call,
Come, O come, come hear ye one and all.
Drink from the Golden Bowl,
‘Twill purify your soul.
If you will thus comply,
O come, do not deny.
