THE LATTER RAIN
(Sung to the music of “Lord, I Hear of Showers of Blessing” The Church Hymnal, No. 208)
Now the latter rain is falling, Falling as the truth, the way.
Bible prophecies unfolding Of the great and dreadful day.
Chorus: It’s falling now, falling now, Falling now as showers of truth.
Long we’ve looked for it in power, Never, though, in truth revealed.
But in faith each grass and flower Grasped the blessings unconcealed.
Chorus: It’s falling now, falling now, Falling now as showers of truth.
Leader, teacher, scholar, pastor Seek to shelter all with this:
“ALL ye know is power, power That will come at Pentecost.”
Chorus: It’s falling now, falling now, Falling now as showers of truth.
But the poor, the maimed, the halting, With the Spirit’s help have seen
God in mercy now outpouring Showers of truth to make us clean.
Chorus: It’s falling now, falling now, Falling now as showers of truth.
Clean and white, O glorious hour! All in readiness to wait
For the Pentecostal power That will come in blessings great.
Chorus: It’s falling now, falling now, Falling now as showers of truth.
