LUKE 14
(Sung to the music of “I Am Thinking Today of That Beautiful Land” The Church Hymnal, No. 626)
A great man made a feast, Such a wonderful feast.
Many guests were invited to share. When the hour was come,
Sent the word to their home, “Come and dine, there is food and to spare.”
Chorus: O be ready to go when the Master shall call; Leave behind all that earth holds most dear. For a home over there, Nothing here can compare.
Say ye now, “Lord, I cannot refuse.”
Then they all made excuse As with single consent: We have all urgent duties to do- I have bought, I must see, Land that’s parceled to me, So I pray thee, please have me excused.
Chorus: O be ready to go when the Master shall call; Leave behind all that earth holds most dear. For a home over there, Nothing here can compare.
Say ye now, “Lord, I cannot refuse.”
I have oxen five yoke, I must see them and prove. Said another, I married a wife. So the servant returned (Invitations all spurned); Much too busy with cares of this life.
Chorus: O be ready to go when the Master shall call; Leave behind all that earth holds most dear. For a home over there, Nothing here can compare.
Say ye now, “Lord, I cannot refuse.”
Call them from the highways, From the hedges compel, Bring the lame and the halt and the blind. All of those who refused, Life eternal shall lose- With their goods they are left far behind.
Chorus: O be ready to go when the Master shall call; Leave behind all that earth holds most dear. For a home over there, Nothing here can compare.
Say ye now, “Lord, I cannot refuse.”
