I’M ON MY WAY FROM PADAN-ARAM
(Sung to the music of “The Wayfaring Pilgrim”)

I’m on my way from Padan-aram To be with God in His Kingdom,
Idolaters will not ever share; Not one idol will be found there.
I’m going home, from Laban I flee, But he pursues to trouble me.

Chorus: “Fear thou not, for I’ll be with thee.“ This is my Lord’s promise to me.

I’m on my way from Padan-aram, And Rachel is so troublesome,
Stolen idols worshiped is her sin: When we reach home, she’ll not go in.
I’m going home, but Rachel will die; Just short of home, there she will lie.

Chorus: “Fear thou not, for I’ll be with thee.“ This is my Lord’s promise to me.

I’m on my way from Padan-aram, Fearing trouble still worse to come,
I am afraid of danger and strife When Esau comes to seek my life.
I’m going home, forever to dwell, With my name changed to Israel.

Chorus: “Fear thou not, for I’ll be with thee.“ This is my Lord’s promise to me.

I’m on my way from Padan-aram To be with God in His Kingdom,
I’ll wrestle all the night to be free; At break of day He will bless me.
I’m going home, I pray Thou wilt bless; Lord save me by Thy righteousness.

Chorus: “Fear thou not, for I’ll be with thee.“ This is my Lord’s promise to me.
